龍與鳳，在中國自古就有吉祥寓意。
1983年，考古工作者在廣東省廣州市發現一座南越大墓，墓主人是公元前122年去世的南越國文王趙眜。在他的右眼處，出土了一塊精美的透雕龍鳳紋重環玉佩，分隔為內外兩圈。內圈透雕一遊龍，外圈透雕一鳳鳥，立於龍爪之上，鳳冠和尾羽上下延伸成捲雲紋。南越國是漢朝屬國，漢朝以右為尊，這塊被放置在文王右眼處的玉佩體現出當時最高水平的製作工藝，即使在今天，它的精緻程度也令人讚不絕口。正因如此，這塊玉佩被選為南越王博物院的院徽。
